4叶三叶草 Four leaf clover song.
Hi everyone,
Today we are talking about some special words and then going to listen to a song to help you remember them
“to look over” = to quickly read something without detail.
eg When you hire a car at the airport, they give you a contract to sign. You “look over” it and sign it – hardly anybody would read everyline of it.
“to overlook” – this means NOT to take notice of something.
In the above example, when hiring a car,you could ” overlook” the fact that you must fill the car with petrol before returning it,and bring the car back with an empty tank, and have to pay a lot more than normal for the petrol.
Other “looking” words – look under, look over, look around.
Then there is “to see over” – meaning looking over a fence, for example.
“oversee” – means to supervise eg The engineer had to oversee the building of the new roads.
Well – in English, a 4 leaf clover means GOOD LUCK – and the song about it reminds you of the use of “look over” and “overlook”.Watch the song and words here
